Munich Card
Frequently asked questions about the Munich Card
Answers on buying, validity, public transport, discounts and cancellation, sorted by topic.
Buying & delivery
How and where do I buy the Munich Card? +
Online from our partner Turbopass. You choose the start date, a duration of 1 to 5 days, single or group, and with or without an MVV ticket. In Munich you can also buy the Card at the tourist information offices and at MVV ticket machines.
How do I receive the Card after buying it? +
After payment, by email as a digital card with a QR code for your phone. If you added the MVV ticket, it appears within a few minutes.
What details do I need when booking? +
The names and dates of birth of everyone travelling, because the MVV ticket is personalised. Have the details for the whole group to hand before you book.
How much does the Munich Card cost? +
The price depends on the duration, the number of travellers and whether you add the MVV ticket. The booking window on the prices page shows the current amounts.
Validity & groups
When does the Card start and how long is it valid? +
From the start date you set when booking, for 1 to 5 consecutive days. The days run back to back.
Who does the group ticket cover? +
Up to 5 people; two children aged 6 to 14 count as one person. The MVV ticket is issued to the main cardholder, who has to be there on every journey. Every group member uses the discounts individually.
Public transport
Is public transport included? +
Only if you add the MVV ticket. It covers the U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram, bus and regional trains in Zone M (the city area) or across the full M-6 network. More on the public transport page.
Can I get to the airport with the Card? +
Yes, with the MVV ticket for M-6: the airport is part of the full network, and the S1 and S8 S-Bahn lines run into the city. Zone M does not cover the trip to the airport.
Partner discounts
Is admission free with the Card? +
No. The Munich Card is a discount card: you show it at the ticket desk before you pay and get the reduced price, or the reduced child price for children. Free admission comes with the Munich City Pass, which is a separate product.
Which attractions give a discount? +
Over 60 partners, including the Residenz Museum, Nymphenburg Palace, the Deutsches Museum, the Pinakothek galleries, the cathedral tower climb, the New Town Hall tower, the FC Bayern Museum and hop-on hop-off tours. There's a selection on the attractions page.
How often do I get the discount at the same partner? +
Once at each partner while the Card is valid. You usually don't need to book ahead.
Cancellation & contact
Can I cancel the Card? +
Up to one day before the first day of validity. Whether a fee applies is set out in Turbopass's terms and conditions.
Who do I contact with questions about my booking? +
Turbopass support. The contact details are on the contact page.
