How the discounts work
The Munich Card doesn't give you free admission, it gives you a reduction: you show the Card at the ticket desk before paying and get your ticket for less. This works at over 60 partners, from the big museums and palaces to viewing towers, city tours, day trips, restaurants and shops. You can use the discount once at each partner while the Card is valid, and you usually don't need to book ahead. Each partner sets its own discount; there's an overview on the prices page.
Palaces and the Residenz
For centuries the Residenz in the heart of the Old Town was the seat of the Wittelsbach rulers. The Card gets you a discount at both the Residenz Museum and the Treasury. In the west of the city lies Nymphenburg Palace and its park; besides the palace itself, the Marstallmuseum with its state coaches and the park pavilions are discounted too. Further north, the Schleißheim and Lustheim palaces are also partners.
Museums
The Deutsches Museum on Museum Island is one of the world's largest museums of science and technology; with the Card its branches, the Verkehrszentrum transport museum and the Flugwerft Schleißheim aviation museum, cost less as well. In the Kunstareal art district in Maxvorstadt, the Alte Pinakothek, the Pinakothek der Moderne and Museum Brandhorst give a discount, as do the Glyptothek and the State Collections of Antiquities on Königsplatz and the Lenbachhaus with its Blue Rider collection. The Bavarian National Museum and the Alpine Museum complete the list.
Views over the city
Two towers in the Old Town are partners: the cathedral tower climb at the Frauenkirche and the New Town Hall tower on Marienplatz, both with views across the rooftops and, on a clear day, all the way to the Alps. A newer addition is the Umadum Ferris wheel in the Werksviertel district by Ostbahnhof station.
Tours and day trips
For a first overview of the city, the hop-on hop-off sightseeing tours and the official Old Town walking tour both come with a Card discount. Tours with Radius Tours and day trips to places such as Salzburg, Herrenchiemsee or Nuremberg are discounted as well.
Family and leisure
With children, SEA LIFE and the miniature railway in the Olympic Park and Bavaria Filmstadt in Geiselgasteig are good picks. Football fans get into the FC Bayern Museum at the Allianz Arena for less.
Restaurants, shops and services
Besides the attractions, a number of restaurants and shops give a discount, and there's a luggage storage service in the city, handy on your arrival or departure day. Turbopass shows which partners are currently taking part when you book.
